Position: Education and Outreach Officer
Location: Kalinga Mane, Agumbe, Shivamogga district, Karnataka
Duration: Long-term position with a 6-month probationary period.

Chief responsibilities:
- Developing Educational Programs: The Education and Outreach Officer is responsible
for researching, designing, and developing educational programs and resources related to environmental conservation and sustainable development. These programs should be tailored for various target groups, such as schools, colleges, and community organizations. - Stakeholder Engagement: The Officer must network and interact with various stakeholders, including government officials, academic institutions, educators, and partner organizations. Building strong relationships and collaborations with these stakeholders is crucial for the success of educational programs and initiatives.
- Outreach and Awareness Campaigns: The Officer should organize and lead awareness campaigns, events, and workshops aimed at promoting environmental awareness and sustainable practices. These activities can be conducted within schools, colleges, and the wider community, with the goal of inspiring positive action and behaviour change.
- Resource Development: The Officer is responsible for creating educational resources, including lesson plans, teaching materials, and multimedia content, to support the delivery of environmental education. These resources should be engaging, informative, and aligned with the curriculum requirements.
- Training and Capacity Building: Conducting workshops and training sessions for educators and students is an important aspect of the role. The Officer should
facilitate professional development opportunities to enhance the knowledge and skills of educators in delivering effective environmental education.
Basic qualifications/skills:
- A relevant degree in a biological or environmental science discipline is often required. This provides the necessary foundation and knowledge base to effectively deliver environmental education.
- At least 2-3 years of experience with schools and colleges is highly desirable. This experience demonstrates a practical understanding of environmental education methodologies and best practices.
- The candidate should have the ability and experience to network and independently interact with stakeholders in the sector. This includes government officials, academic institutions, educators, faculties, and partner organizations.
- Strong interpersonal skills are essential for building and maintaining relationships.
- Fluency in both written and oral English and Kannada is typically required.
- The candidate should be able to communicate effectively in both languages to engage with diverse stakeholders and deliver educational content.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office tools, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is important for creating educational materials, analyzing data, and preparing reports.
- Familiarity with digital communication platforms and social media is also beneficial for content creation and dissemination.
